The bottom line

Drimsim is a pay-as-you-go travel SIM, not a bundle seller: you pay €10 for the SIM or eSIM, top up a balance and are charged per megabyte, mostly €0.01 per MB. That adds up quickly on larger amounts of data. It suits light users who travel often and want one SIM that never needs a new plan, but it is not built for heavier use such as video or tethering.

Best for: Frequent travellers who use little data, such as maps and messaging, and want one reusable SIM with a balance instead of buying a new plan for every trip.

How we score

Pros

  • Pay per use with no plan to choose: its site says traffic is measured in kilobytes and there are no monthly fees.
  • One SIM or eSIM works across the countries on its rates page, and the same balance moves with you across borders.
  • Its homepage FAQ says hotspot sharing is allowed and data sharing is not limited.
  • Unused balance does not expire after a set number of days, so leftover credit carries over to the next trip.
  • Own app for iOS and Android to activate the eSIM, top up and track spending, with support chat that Drimsim says runs 24/7.
  • Available as a physical SIM as well as an eSIM, useful if your phone does not support eSIM.

Cons

  • Charged per MB, so video calls, streaming or tethering a laptop can use up the balance quickly: €0.01 per MB in most countries.
  • The SIM itself costs €10 on top of the data you buy.
  • Its country pages show much higher rates in some places, so check the rate for your destination before you travel.
  • Its terms charge €3 a month from the balance after 360 days with no use, and allow a balance refund only for payments made in the previous 14 days.
  • Weak public ratings: 3.2 on Trustpilot from 12 reviews and 3.5 on the App Store from 15 ratings (October 2026).

Prices and value

Drimsim works differently from most eSIM sellers. Instead of fixed data bundles, you buy the SIM card or eSIM for €10, add money to a balance and pay only for the data you use. Its country pages list the rate per MB, and its site says traffic is measured in kilobytes. In most of the countries it covers, the rate is €0.01 per MB, the same for the physical SIM and the eSIM.

Because the rate is charged per MB, the cost of a gigabyte is simply the per-MB rate multiplied by 1,024, not a special plan. The price block beside this section shows its current prices per country, and some countries cost far more than €0.01 per MB.

The pay-per-use model has one real upside: nothing is wasted. If you only check maps and send messages, a few euros of balance can last a trip, and what is left stays on the account for next time. For heavier use, such as video calls, streaming or working from your laptop, the per-MB charges add up quickly and a fixed data bundle may suit you better.

Coverage and networks

Its own site advertises 190+ countries, and the country list beside this section shows where it is currently offered. Its rates page covers Europe, much of Asia, the Americas, parts of Africa and Oceania. The SIM is not tied to one carrier: Drimsim says it connects to a local network in each country and switches rates as you cross a border.

There are no separate regional or global plans because one balance already works everywhere it covers. The catch is that prices vary by country. Most popular destinations, including Spain, France, the UK, the US, Japan and Thailand, are €0.01 per MB, but places such as Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Cameroon and Ivory Coast are €0.20 per MB, Seychelles is €0.30 and Burkina Faso €0.50. Check the country page before you travel.

Plans and flexibility

There are no plans to pick, no validity period to watch and no unlimited option. You top up the balance in the app and data is charged as you use it. Its terms say you can turn on automatic top-ups from your card when the balance runs low, and that a negative balance can be charged to your saved payment method, so it is worth checking that setting.

Drimsim says the SIM does not expire, which makes it handy if you travel a few times a year. Its terms do add a condition: if the SIM has no activity for 360 days, €3 a month is taken from the balance until you use it again, and the SIM is cancelled if the balance runs out.

The Drimsim app page also describes calls over the internet from the app, with Drimsim-to-Drimsim calls free and the price per minute shown before you call. The eSIM itself is sold for data.

Buying, setup and the app

You can order the eSIM on the website or in the app. Drimsim says it is delivered by email within about two minutes as a QR code, and its activation page asks you to install the Drimsim app to activate it. It lists compatible phones, including iPhone XS and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer and some Xiaomi models. A physical SIM in nano, micro or mini size is also available, sent by registered mail with shipping charged by region.

Payments go through Stripe and Drimsim says it accepts the most common bank cards. The app is used to top up, follow spending, contact support and refer friends: its referral scheme gives €7 to both of you once a friend orders the SIM and tops up €25.

Support and refunds

Drimsim says its support works 24/7 in live chat, in English and Russian, with human operators. You can also reach it by email or through its Facebook page, and the app includes a guide for when you lose connection completely.

Its refund page offers a refund of the SIM price plus the balance if a connection problem is not fixed within 24 hours of contacting support, and a refund of the SIM price if you never opened the SIM or installed the eSIM. Shipping costs and referral bonuses are not refunded. Its terms are stricter on balance: you can only claim back payments made in the previous 14 days. Refunds go back to the original payment method.

Is Drimsim legit?

Yes, Drimsim is an established service. Its website names Drimsim Limited, with an address in Hong Kong, and the iOS app is published by Drimnano SL. Press coverage dates the product to the mid-2010s, which makes it one of the older travel SIM brands.

Public ratings are limited and mixed. It scores 3.2 on Trustpilot from 12 reviews, and the app has 3.5 on the App Store from 15 ratings (October 2026). Trustpilot reviewers who are happy mention long-lasting credit and frequent travel, while negative reviews mention the cost, balance running down quickly and setup problems. Its terms also say Drimsim may ask for proof of identity when you activate the SIM.

Drimsim: questions travellers ask

Is Drimsim legit?

Yes. Drimsim is run by Drimsim Limited, registered in Hong Kong, and has sold travel SIM cards since the mid-2010s. Its public ratings are modest: 3.2 on Trustpilot from 12 reviews and 3.5 on the App Store from 15 ratings (October 2026).

How does Drimsim pricing work?

You pay €10 for the SIM or eSIM, top up a balance and are charged per MB of data used. In most countries the rate is €0.01 per MB, but some countries cost up to €0.50 per MB. There are no monthly fees. The price block on this page shows current prices per country.

Does Drimsim allow hotspot?

Yes. The FAQ on its homepage says hotspot sharing is allowed and data sharing is not limited. Because you pay per MB, tethering a laptop can use up your balance quickly.

Can I top up Drimsim?

Yes, topping up is how it works. You add money to your balance in the app, and its terms say you can turn on automatic top-ups from your card when the balance runs low.

Does the Drimsim eSIM include a phone number?

The eSIM is sold for data. The Drimsim app page describes calls over the internet from the app, with free calls between Drimsim users and prices shown before you call.

What is Drimsim's refund policy?

Drimsim refunds the SIM price and balance if a connection problem is not fixed within 24 hours of contacting support, and the SIM price if you never installed the eSIM. Its terms limit balance refunds to payments made in the previous 14 days, and shipping and referral bonuses are not refunded.

Does Drimsim balance expire?

No, the balance stays on the account between trips. Its terms say that after 360 days with no use, €3 a month is taken from the balance until you use the SIM again.

Does Drimsim work in Spain?

Yes. Its Spain page lists data at €0.01 per MB for both the physical SIM and the eSIM. The price block on this page shows current prices for each country.
