Airalo eSIM review: prices, coverage and our verdict

Prices and value

Airalo sells single-country plans in packages of different sizes, with validity from 3 to 45 days. The price block beside this section shows its current prices per country.

Bigger packages bring the price per GB down.

Prices differ from one destination to the next, so check the price block for the country you are visiting before you buy.

Coverage and networks

The country list beside this section shows where Airalo has single-country plans. Airalo's website also sells regional eSIMs, for areas such as Europe, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, North America and Oceania, as well as a global eSIM for trips across several continents.

Each plan's details in the Airalo app or on its website show which local networks it uses, so it is worth checking that before you buy, particularly for rural or island destinations.

Airalo's regional and global eSIMs make it a sensible pick if you are crossing several borders on one trip.

Plans and flexibility

Airalo's plans have validity from 3 to 45 days, and it also sells unlimited data plans. Airalo's own guide says its unlimited plans include 3 GB of high-speed data per day, after which speed is reduced, and that the exact allowance for each package is shown in the package details before you buy.

Its help centre says eSIMs marked as rechargeable can be topped up from the My eSIMs section of your account, so you can add data without installing a new eSIM. You can check whether a plan is rechargeable under its additional information before you buy.

Most Airalo eSIMs are data only. The exception is the Discover+ global eSIM, which, according to its help centre, comes with a US-based phone number that lets you make and receive calls and send and receive texts.

Buying, setup and the app

You can buy on the Airalo website or in its app for iOS and Android, which you also use to manage and top up your eSIMs. Its help centre has step-by-step installation guides for iPhone and Android, and it suggests checking that your phone supports eSIM before you buy.

Its help centre lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, UnionPay and JCB cards, plus PayPal, Google Pay and Apple Pay (not in every country). Alipay works in the app only, and Airmoney, Airalo's own credit, can be used at checkout.

Some countries require identity verification before you can use a local eSIM. For those eSIMs, Airalo's help centre says the buy button is replaced by a verification step, so you need to verify your identity first. Most destinations don't need this.

Support and refunds

Airalo's contact page says support is available 24/7 through live chat, with more options in the app. Its help centre covers installation, top-ups, troubleshooting and account questions.

Refunds are requested from the package history in your account, and the refund button only appears for eligible orders: expired or fully used eSIMs don't qualify. If the reason is installation problems or an eSIM that doesn't work, you can choose Airmoney or a refund to your original payment method, which its help centre says usually takes 7–10 business days and up to 30 days depending on your bank. If you bought the wrong eSIM or your plans changed, the refund is paid in Airmoney only. An eSIM you haven't installed can also be passed on to someone else by sharing its QR code.

Is Airalo legit?

Yes. Airalo has been running since 2019, and its terms name the company behind it as AirGSM Pte Ltd, registered in Singapore. In 2025 it raised a $220 million funding round, and it says more than 30 million travellers use its eSIMs.

Public ratings are solid: Airalo has a TrustScore of 4.2 on Trustpilot from about 48,000 reviews (October 2026). Positive reviews tend to mention easy setup, while negative ones mention connection problems and support, so it is worth reading recent reviews for the country you are visiting.
